Back Marker Brigade Update
BackMarker Brigade Brings Electrics Update To Bahrain
League: World Series Adv Category: Press-release
BackMarker Brigade has endured a character "BM Brigade 09 Launch" building start to 2009 having just completed four laps in Sepang before screen freeze and then more technical gremlins befalling Simon Smith in Shanghai resulted in a DNQ. However Bahrain and more likely Barcelona signals a turning point in the season for BackMarker Brigade and driver Simon Smith a a new electronics package is due to be tested today.
"We've ripped out the keyboard in the drivers cockpit and inserted a small gamepad instead" stated Simon Smith, who has garnered respect from fellow racers by competing in 8GP and qualifying for 6 of them with a keyboard. Being the only regular keyboard driver has meant that Smith has sacrificed a lot of pace but his grit and determination was paid off with a delighted 7th in the Winter Season's Adelaide race where his careful race craft ensured a massive points haul.
"As a team, we hope to be aiming for regular qualification now that we're a bit more technologically even to the other teams. We only have a few hours testing the new equipment for Bahrain so it may not happen there but it'll be all cylinders go when we hit the European circuits!"
Simon Smith, who has yet finish a race this season will also be hoping no more technical issues effect his weekend.
"We've taken many precautions to ensure the car makes it home in Bahrain. I've yet to be involved in any driver enforced retirements, so once the car's up to scratch, we should be aiming for a 100% finishing rate"
